London needs no introduction, so this page will skip the introduction and deal with the two questions that actually decide whether you should study here: whether the scale works for you, and whether you can afford it.
Scale. London is not one city but a chain of neighbourhoods, and where you study and live matters more than in any other destination. A school in Greenwich and a school in Bayswater are in the same city on a map and in different worlds in practice. The practical consequence: judge a course by its location as carefully as by its timetable, and treat your commute as part of the price. Thirty minutes each way is normal and fine. An hour each way, twice a day, costs you ten hours a week — which is more class time than most intensive courses add.
The upside of that scale is that London genuinely has everything, and a large part of it is free. The British Museum, the National Gallery, the Tate Modern, the V&A, the Natural History Museum and the Science Museum all charge nothing for entry. That is a year of weekends at no cost, in English, on almost any subject you care about. No other city on this site offers that.
Cost is the real filter. London is the most expensive destination Topstudy works with, and accommodation is where the difference bites. The standard advice applies — the further out, the cheaper, and the longer the commute — but the honest framing is a trade: for the same budget you could study noticeably longer in Birmingham, Leeds or Liverpool. Who it is for. Students for whom the city is part of the point; anyone who wants the widest possible choice of school and neighbourhood; and students who can carry the cost, or who are staying briefly enough that the cost is bounded.
